Matt Ritchie
Matt Ritchie - who also uses the moniker Matt136 - is a Bay Area artist who works with various mediums in multiple styles. Matt dove into a life of creating images after seeing Star Wars in 1977. Soon after the Star Wars influence Matt received his first comic book at age 7. Thus began a life long passion for all popular culture themes. As Matt progressed with art over the years, new influences came from many other sources. Art history, skateboarding culture, street art and outsider art helped shaped Matt’s individual style. But the early comic book influences are the main theme of the “Heads Up!” show. The pop culture aesthetic is a shared passion with his son, Miles. Matt lives in Castro Valley with his wife, Michelle, and cat, Marceline. Matt enjoys coffee, chips and salsa, and comic book collecting.
